Bull****.

Nope.

Yep. You need to read the article, Jim. Star Kist's processing
plants
that are affected are in AMERICAN SAMOA, not "Pelosi's San Francisco
district".

And, it's republican heresay at the moment anyway.

Oh I did read the article. Did you?

Star Kist (and it's parent company), as well as Chicken of the Sea
would
profit from not having to pay the new minimum wage to the 5,000 Samoan
workers.

I guess it is just a coincidence that Star Kist's parent company is
based
in
San Francisco and Chicken of the Sea is based in California.

Can you provide any proof that the article is wrong?
Can you prove that any of the article is correct?

Oh, hell, Jim, try to comprehend what you've read. I said that the
ORIGINAL POST was bull****. How so, you ask? Here is the original
statement:

The major tuna company in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco
district, StarKist (Del Monte) is being exempted from the minimum-wage
increase that Democrats approved this week.

So, do tell, how is StarKist (DelMonte) exempt from paying minimum
wage? Is every single employee of theirs in American Samoa????

sigh

It's okay, Jim, we're all wrong once in awhile.

And there are some who are wrong all the time. ;-)

Well, then, Jim, enlighten me. Tell me how that StarKist is exempt from
paying minimum wage increases because American Samoa is exempt?

Bassy, that should be fairly obvious.... about 60% of the island works
for Star Kissed....

Yes, but the total percentage of Star Kist employees affected by this
is minimal. There are around 5,000 total cannery employees on American
Samoa, and there are several canneries one of which is owned by Del
Monte.

Interestingly, the Federal Minimum Wage laws have never controlled
wages there.... and will be the only territory not falling under the
aforementioned legislation.

By the way, the current Min. Wage there is $3.26, set on 10/1/2003. I
can't imagine life on $6800/yr......

Neither can I, but then again, my cost of living is more, I'd presume!
