Actually I think it does have a bit of airflow... thus the need for the
exhaust filter. I could be wrong... but.

As for a boat... I don't think it would do too well with sand.

It's not a vacuum. It's a rotating brush, and it's surprising how much
stuff it picks up on a hardwood floor that a regular vacuum cleaner
misses. I can't see it working on a boat very well at all.
