Notre Dame..............................

..............is a joke. 21-3 USC, just into the 2nd quarter.

How were they ever rated #4 especially after they were blown out by Michigan
and barely beat Michigan State earlier in the season????????????????

They continue to suck through the 4th quarter: 37-17.

They were #2 pre-season. Heh, heh, heh...

I called my Uncle after the First Quarter and asked him if the Jesuits
out there forgot to go to chapel or say Vespers before the game.

He was not amused.

But I was. :)

Hey, Charlie Weiss is headed for the pros anyway as much as he says he
wants to stay at Notre Dame. That game was just another nail in the
coffin.

Interesting factoid - I believe that this was the first time that a
former pro head coach and former pro offensive coordinator from the
pro same team ever faced off as head coaches.

I like Pete Carroll a lot - he's not a pro level coach, but an
outstanding college coach.

So, what do you think about the Convicts/Forces of Light and Justice
rematch controversy?

It does not matter to me who Ohio State plays. A case can be made for both
Meeecheeegan and USC. It will be interesting to see who ends up #2 and
goes on to play the Buckeyes.

Boy does Notre Dame suck. How they made it into the top 10 is beyond me.

Notre Dame was not founded by the Jesuits, but by the Holy Cross order.
My feelings about UND are different, I suppose, since I see it first as
a great teaching university with a strong social conscience. Football is
not on the list of what really matters at a great university.

Harry, everybody knows how ****ing smart you are and your opinion
about sports in general. There are Jesuits on staff at Notre Dame as
there are at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Shut up - this conversation isn't about your opinions.

Wow, you certainly took this off topic thread into the gutter quickly,
Shortwave......

The whole rating system is broken. For example, Clemson made it to
#10 before dropping totally out of the ratings for a week. This,
while playing in the relatively weak ACC. They ultimately came back
at #24.

An unranked USC (South Carolina) just beat them 31-28. This year USC
lost to Tennessee, Arkansas, and Auburn by a touchdown or less, and
lost to Florida by 1 point, while playing a tough SEC schedule. The
games were closer than the scores indicate, but never any ranking.

It sure seems that some teams get ranked because of how the voting
members "like" them, not because of how they perform against worthy
opponents.

Oh well... USC beat Clemson, and with Spurrier onboard, things are
getting interesting. A couple years of decent recruiting, and the
polls will *have* to take notice.

Ehhhh - Spurrier is a lu-zar and will quit South Carolina to go back
to the pros - you watch.

Yeah... lots of people don't like Spurrier, 'cause he handed their ass
to them on a platter when he was at Florida. It just may start
happening again in SC. It's good to be on this side of it!

But the pros?... nah. He's an awesome college coach, but he doesn't
have the pro touch. He's too old to go that route now. He may
upgrade to a bigger college name in 3-4 years, but he won't go pro.
You heard it here first. :-)

The SEC has traditionally been the undervalued major conference.
During the heyday of Alabama, Mississippi, LSU, et. al., it was
undervalued as a conference. It's that liberal bias. :)

So where is "THE" USC going this year?

The Barbasol Shave Your Pubic Hair Bowl?

That's a truly good one to be a part of, but I don't think so. It
seems they'll be going to the "This one isn't so good, but we'll take
it on the way up" Bowl.

Or something like that. :-)
