I just bought a used boat in Massachusetts that was used so little this
2006 season that it still has 1/3 tank of fuel left over from the 2005 season. The fuel in the tank is MBTE fuel but the only fuel available in the state now apparently is E10. The owner of the boat stabilized the fuel before storing in 05. What should I do? Should I wait until spring and burn off this fuel after a second winter in the tank? Is two years too long to store MBTE fuel in a boat in MA? The boat is stored outdoors. Or should I try to siphon it out and burn it up in my car and then fill the tank with E10? Or leave it empty? The engine is a rebuilt 1990 225HP Yamaha outboard. Thanks, Scott |
