A couple of guys got a basket case VW bus and completely rebuilt it, making it wider, and adding a 911 Porsche engine and suspension system. I forget where the link was on the story behind the bus, but if I find it, I'll post it. BTW ... the Porsche that you are "riding" in ... in the video looks exactly like mine inside. Mine's a 911/996 Twin Turbo. The 911/996 GT3 is the same car but minus some of the sound deadening and other non-essentials to reduce weight even further. I believe it also has a slightly stiffer suspension. Thanks for the link ... I enjoyed it. Eisboch |

That was pretty cool. It didn't look or sound like the 911 driver was actually trying that much... did you notice how he easily was able to carry too much speed through the corners, and had to back off a few times? Didn't downshift enough, and just pulled a higher gear than was appropriate coming out of the corners? His job was to shoot the video, not to race. In any case, awesome bus! |

Eisboch The GT3 is more than just a little lighter and stiffer... it's pretty much not even suitable for road use at all. Factory race car. Your 996 is a luxo-cruiser by comparison... :-) |

What do you think she hit while passing? Why do you think I used Honda as an example? I read the article. Idiot drivers do not drive one kind of car... they are spread among everything. However, because a majority of Porsche drivers are enthusiasts, a far greater percentage of them are better drivers than your typical Honda driver. Exceptions do exist. |

One of the things I like about a Porsche is that you *can* drive it sensibly and safely and still enjoy it's performance and handling. I very rarely drive faster than that of the overall traffic flow. Eisboch |

The feedback through the steering wheel is amazing; the brakes are unbelievable. The local PCA club is a bunch of really nice people, and they do an excellent job of running driver education events at a coupe of local tracks. If you've never had yours on the track you owe it to yourself to give it a try. You can't explore the car's potential on the street... the track is the only place to do it responsibly. |

Personally, I rarely get into trouble on the interstate, but 35 in 25s, that's another story. Does a Porsche drive that slow? Also, I would think you attract less police attention in the family SUV than in a Porsche, especially if it's an Arrest-Me-Red Porsche. ;-) |

That's not racing, that's for sissies! :-) Real men use the steering wheel, shifter and brakes while going fast. Just can't do that on the street... pretty much impossible to hit an apex with the oncoming lanes of traffic and all. :-) |

The soccer moms all drive 'em the same way ... fast, tailgating, no brakes until the very last minute and , of course, the cell phone stuck in one ear. BTW .... what a beautiful day up here today. Calm before the storm or something. Feels like spring. Eisboch |

It does just begged to be flogged, and it's tough to hold back. It also gets an extra share of "attention" from the police, but if you're doing nothing wrong, they don't penalize you for it. Mine's blue, so it's a little bit under-cover. Red is asking for it, no matter what you drive. |
