32 feet per second per second acceleration in a vacuum; most rain drops
don't fall in a vacuum. And yes, a pound of lead will hit the ground faster
than a pound of Styrofoam here in the real world.

It's not, of course. Fluid resistance is the limiting factor in objects
falling in a fluid. A rain drop has a terminal velocity for the same
reason that a boat has a top speed: drag is equal to force pushing it
at that point. If you want to go faster, you need to increase the
power. (or reduce drag, which is why fast boats plane).

I think it's because of the shape a raindrop takes as it falls in air.
Forms a natural parachute so it's terminal velocity is limited by the shape
of the droplet.

Years ago, a couple of us were standing around discussing fast cars. An
onlooker asked if we ever drove 300 mph, and 2 of us answered that we never
had a throttle that went that far. Years ago, was thinking seriously of
building a jet dragster. Was cheaper to build than most cars and got good
money to show up and demonstrate it. Unfortunately money and a draft notice
got involved.

It's a difficult concept - riding a vehicle going 120 mph equaling
actually going 120 mph.

I've gone 1,341 mph.

Of course that was in an F4 Phantom, but still. :)

Buddy was a Phantom driver for 2 tours in SEA. He loves them. Loves the

I would bet any amount of money that his negative name calling and fighting
