Q # 1... NO You are referring to whether I should put lubricant on the sealing ring that is at the top of the water pump housing of the lower unit of my motor. Another newsgroup member has explained the reason why I don't need to put any lubricant on that sealing ring. Thanks for concurring. Now I am sure I will not put any lubricant on that sealing ring. Q# 2 Definitely not! You are referring to whether I should put sealant on the gasket in the water pump assembly of the lower unit. Seem like you are saying that not only we don't need the sealant but also we are better off not using the sealant at all. Based on the past posts in this newsgroup, this seems to have something to do with the extra thickness of sealant may increase the room inside the water pump housing, and may cause the impeller not to be able to function as good as when there is no extra room inside the water pump housing, and may result with lower water pressure as designed. This makes sense. Anyway, less is more; doing less and getting a better result is surely appealing to me. Thanks for the warning. Jay Chan |
