to mass this evening and as we pull into the driveway, sitting in the Rectory drive way is a brand new Ranger Z-21 with an Evinrude 250 E-TEC. I had to stop and look it over - beautiful white with blue/gold/silver accents (Commanche stripes) - full electronics (GPS/bow/stern/console fish finders/video) - monster trolling motor - top of the line all the way around and matching Ford F-250 pickup truck. Hmmm - I sez to myself. I wonder... As we were leaving, I got a minute with the new Pastor. Sure enough - it's his boat. His brother bought it for him for his 25th anniversary of his ordination. Kewl... He's from Tennessee, is a long time bass fisherman and does the occasional tournament when he has time. Said he was looking forward to meeting me as when he pulled the boat into the driveway, a couple of guys on the Parish Council told him about me and my - um - "addiction". We're going out tomorrow afternoon for an orientation ride around Webster Lake and maybe Tuesday morning fishing trip out in Narragansett Bay. Maybe I ought to return to the amateur circuit with my new fishing partner. I mean like I can't miss fishing with a Priest can I? :) Later, Tom Hee hee! That reminds me of when we were teenagers living in an inner city area. A guy came up to us outside a bowling alley and asked us if we wanted to go on a boat ride. We said sure and made plans to meet the boat at a local dock the next night. As soon as we got on and left the dock with a good sized group of strangers we had never seen before, a local radio evangelical preacher came out and started preaching. We ignored him best we could for about half an hour... but he became more and more insistent. He had us trapped and we resented it so we acted up. By the time he gave up & turned around, one of my buddies had ****ed all over one of the preachers blankets and was swinging it around over his head. I thought that preacher was going to murder my buddy. Thank God we reached the dock when we did. We were never asked back. |
