So I had this idea while working on the Ranger this afternoon.

To wit:

I'm sponsoring a contest for rec.boats participants. The rules are
simple

The rules:
1 - There must be a minimum of fifteen participants in the Tall Tale
contest for the prizes to be put into effect.

2 - The Tall Tale must be fiction or at the very least, told in the
fashion of sitting around the bar going somebody one better.

3 - The Tall Tale must involve boating, cruising or fishing or a
combination of those subjects.

4 - The Tall Tale must be sent to me via email - I will publicly
acknowledge who has sent a tale here on rec.boats and repost it to
rec.boats.

5 - I will ask for a panel of non-participants in this contest to
judge the entries.

The Prizes:

First Place - $75

Second Place - $25.

Third Place - haven't figured that out yet.

So, before sending me your entries, what do you folks think - good
idea?

Have you heard the one about the Sudden Onset Tostito? Man, those waves
were enormous. There we were, in our 22' Bayliner, with no warning, when
the sky suddenly turned dark and stormy, and we were facing 30' waves...

No email yet, BTW.

Boaterdude, are you aware that the original author of this "sea tale"
claims that it's a 100% true story?

Eisboch,

I've been with this group off and on for a few years, but under a
different name (honestly can't remember what I used to use before I
moved a couple years back). Yes, I remember Skipper, and the love/hate
relationship with Harry. But I do NOT remember this story. It's hilarious!

I think your reference to Skipper's and Harry's "love/hate" relationship is
also hilarious.

I am sure Harry will appreciate it.
