Keelguard, any opinions?
 

I am planning on putting a keelguard on my boat, but I noticed that the
grooves/strakes on the boat come directly up to the point, Has anyone
experienced this and how has the guard conformed to this?

If you follow the instructions *exactly* for the installation, you won't
have a problem. Mine is the same way. The plastic tool they give you will
help conform it to the strakes. The important part is the prep, so
everything bonds properly.

I followed the instructions to the best of my ability and mine conformed
nicely to the strake on one side but I ended up with a slight gap under the
strake on the other. Nobody but me notices it and performance of the
keelguard isn't affected. Agreed on the importance of prep. Also make sure
you position it right, because once it's on there it isn't going anywhere.

That happened on my buds boat too. We stuck a little white silicone caulk in
there, and you can barely notice.

If you are going over strakes like that, it's best to lay the strip out in
the sun for a while first.
