I'm not. I doubt I ever will be." (Sean Penn/Jeff Spicoli on Larry King

I'm not sure I would discount Penn as being able to play that role. He
has developed an ability to portray different characters. I admire
that in an actor. Johnny Dep does that as well. They become someone
completely different. Many of the hollywood actors are simply
themselves in what ever they do. I used lump Jack Nicholson in the
later group until he did About Schmidt. Same with Nicholas Cage until
he did Adaptation. It was impressive what a loser Cage was able to
portray in that movie.

Penn, Depp, and Cage are three of the finest actors working in the movies
today. Johnny Depp is just fantastic.

I like Depp for his versatility, but one of the most amazingly versatile
young actors today is Matt Damon.

Ed Norton leaves them all in the dust.

Unfortunately Cage's remake of wickerman stinks. I saw it in the
theater and I can say that I don't even recomend it as a rental.

Penn is indeed quite a talented actor, but not on par of the likes Tom Hanks
who is perhaps the best out there at this time.
