flywheel removal
How do i remove the flywheel from a 1956 johnson ob motor it is 15 hp, when
i remove the lock not on crank and attempt to remove the flywheel,with a puller. It will not move i cannot see any lock rings or any other type of locking device except the lock nut. I need to change points and condensors, please advise. This one has me stumped. Thanks for any and all help. Old boater Willie P |

Willie P After removing the nut on the crankshaft that holds the flywheel, you can use a steering wheel puller or harmonic balancer puller rented from an auto supply store. If I remember correctly, use 1/4-20 bolts in the flywheel's 3 threaded holes. You might want to enlist the services of someone experienced if you are unsure what to do. Be sure to use a torque wrench and consult a service manual for the ignition parts replacements and adjustments along with the correct flywheel nut torque. Bill Grannis service manager |
