What? Where is the romance in your soul?

Duh. See Tom's post about rod blanks.

Huh?
Does assembling fishing rods equate with romancing a beautiful woman on
a bridge over the Seine?
Then again, I'm not a fisherman so what do I know!

ooops... Hee hee.I get the clues now ...
he shoots "high modulus medium action rod blanks that are unfinished"
and "You will end up with a kick around rod that will just be butt ugly."

Well...umm...you took this further than I did. I was just referring to the
simple beauty of fishing rods. A lot of women never approach that level.

Who the hell would want to go to France?

You've never seen the Seine?

Nope.

Trust me it's worth a trip. You don't even have to stay overnight -
day trip from London on the high speed Chunnel train, *that's* a
trip.

That would require me to go to London and I'm not going to do that
either.

Them people talk funny.

There is nothing in Paris that I have the slightest interest in
viewing.

Just when I think you can't possibly get any more narrow minded, this
gem comes along.

Ok bassy - you obviously want your rhetorical ass kicked again.

Just how does the statement that I have no interest in anything in
Paris, France make me narrow minded?

You have to look further. Anytime anyone here mentions anything about
any country other than the U.S. you instantly and always say negative
and rude comments about that country. That IS narrow minded. You say
there is nothing in Paris that you would have the slightest interest in
seeing? How do you KNOW that, if you've never been there, and will
never go because you BECAUSE you narrow mindedly think there is nothing
there for you?
Broaden your horizons! The Louvre, Moulin Rouge, dinner cruises on the
Seine, Orsay, grand cathedrals, and this list goes on and on.

It's this, with a different hat on:

"I don't like eating fish"
"How have you had it prepared when you didn't like it?"
"I've never had it. I just know I don't like it".

Yep, I had an old farmer uncle who was exactly the same way. He would
never, ever try anything new. I often wondered how he got to like
anything if he would never try anything new! He wouldn't eat shrimp
because they looked like a grub to him! He never, ever tried ANY type
of chinese food, just because it wasn't beef or potatoes. He was beside
himself when the U.S. tried to convert to the metric system saying "our
system has worked for hundreds of years, why change?"

On a lighter note, did you happen to see Bush's speech this morning?
Man, that guy has blown a gasket!!! He just can't understand that he is
so wrong that even his fellow republicans don't agree with him! He was
in such a fit that when a reporter would ask a question, he'd instantly
get offensive and ****y!!! It was hilarious to watch, but it's a shame
it's so bad for our country.

Just wait until he starts trying to sell us a war in Iran, which he WILL do
right after the elections. Sadly, it will work, even though much of the
so-called "intelligence" about Iran has, over the years, been sold to the
government by a man named Manucher Ghorbanifar, who is so full of **** that
the CIA warned its people to avoid him like the plague during Reagan's time
in office. He's back, and hurtin' for money.

You should have seen him! It was truly funny to watch. You could tell
that he's in a bind. The only people who still believe his Iraq
bull**** is Rummy and Cheney.

JimH believes it. NOYB believes it. To other(s) here, it doesn't matter.
Only the honor of the uniform is important. Once the war begins, it doesn't
matter how wrong the purpose, as long as nobody violates some vague rule
about honor.

Not relevant.

I don't like traveling to other countries - I've got enough to learn
about and see in my own.

I hate traveling........period. I did it nationally and internationally for
over 30 years. I will avoid plane travel for the rest of my life.

I am doing a BIG favor to my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary next year
by offering a *car* trip tour of Baltimore, Boston, New York and
Freeport/Waterville. At least I am in control of the travel schedule and
not some airlines with overbooked flights. ;-)

So? How is that narrow minded?

And for the record, it's only been about France.

Oh, no! You, in the past have said ****ty things to Don about Canada,
and just above, you've done the same with Great Britain.

Everybody makes fun of France.

You say there is nothing in Paris that you would have the slightest interest in
seeing? How do you KNOW that, if you've never been there, and will
never go because you BECAUSE you narrow mindedly think there is nothing

Because I have no interest in anything there. That's not narrow
minded - that's just the way it is.

I don't care. I don't care about art, I don't care about culture, I
don't drink wine and I'm sure as hell not interested in "the romance
of Paris".

I'm interested in my family and their welfare, space exploration,
astronomy, research in quantum mechanics, fish biology/physiology,
medicine as it relates to my particular problems, Native American
culture and society, my own family history, paleontology, geology, new
and interesting machine tool technology, architecture, antique
cars/tractors/trucks, small boats, techno/industrial/electronic music,
etc.

Architecture? Below, you call the grand cathedrals of France just
"stone buildings!!!!
Geology? Europes geology is unique and diverse.
Paleontology? France and the surrounding area is THE place to go, right
after the African continent.
Your family history? Did 100% of your family tree originate in the
U.S.?
Antiques?? France and Europe in general, again, is THE place to be!

That's not narrow minded - that's just me.

Broaden your horizons! The Louvre,

Moldy old paintings - no thanks. Modern art - no thanks.

Now THAT is narrow minded!!!!

Moulin Rouge,

If I want to see a Vegas review, I'll go to Vegas.

dinner cruises on the Seine, Orsay,

And why would I want to risk my life doing that? I can have dinner on
my own boat - on an ocean. If I want a dinner cruise on a river, I'll
go on a trip up the Mississippi - right here in the US.

I rest my case! The Mississippi isn't the Seine, neither is your coast.

grand cathedrals,

One stone building is like every other stone building.

I rest my case!

and this list goes on and on.

I'm sure it does - I'm just not interested.

Again, thanks for making my point!

That does not make me narrow minded.

Oh, indeed it does! You are negating things you have never done. You
don't want to broaden your horizons, you don't want to even try
anything slightly different than what you do every single day. That IS
being narrow minded whether you like the term or not!
