Did you disconnect the shift linkage? If I recall correctly you need
to remove a few bolts holding the shroud around the leg together. After you've done this you should be able to see a barrel nut holding the two parts of the linkage together. Just turn it until they disconnect. Before you do this, put the shift in neutral and scribe a line on the shift linkage at some convenient point. This will greatly help in adjusting it when you reconnect. Hope this helps...J.D. Bill wrote: Greetings! I could post a picture of the outboard if that would help - I'm really stuck ![]() Bill wrote: Hi all. I'm going to attempt to replace my impeller on a 74 Chrysler Magnapower 55 horse outboard. I removed all of the bolts holding the lower unit to the motor, but it would only come down about 1 inch. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what - any suggestions? Thanks, Bill |
