Procedure to connect electrical shore tie?

Is there an establshed procedure to connect the shore tie when you
come to a strange dock? (turning off power etc)
Where is this documented?

If you have access to the breaker controlling the shorepower socket,
you will want to turn that off before making or breaking a connection.
This prevents arcing that will reduce the useful life of the tangs on
the end of your shorepower cable.

I also turn off the master AC breaker aboard the boat to insulate the
circuits from any weird or spikey currents that might occur after the
shorepower cable is connected and the onshore breaker switched back to
"on". I only have 2 active AC circuits on my boat
(outlets and water heater) so I also switch those individual breakers
off.

Sequence:

1. Make sure power is off to shorepower pedestal or socket
2. Make sure AC breaker is off aboard the boat
3. Connect shorepower cable to socket
4. Activate breaker to shorepower pedestal or socket
5. Switch on AC breaker (s) on boat.

Disconnecting:

1. Switch off AC breakers on boat
2. Switch off shoreside breaker
3. Disconnect shorepower cable
