It is not just a boy/girl thing. Public schools want to dumb everyone
down to the level of the insipid assholes who run the public school
system. If some kid does start to show creativity or finds themselves
bored with this dull gray regimen they immediately get labelled ADD
and get drugged into submission.

I guess the 'dumbing down' is why Multivariate Calculus is being taught to
high school students locally. This is *after* they've taken the equivalent
of three semesters of college calculus, and passed the AP test. A friend's
son is taking Algebra 2 (Honors) as a Freshman. That means he took Algebra
in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th grade. He didn't get labeled ADD, but
*did* get labeled 'motivated'.

Have you ever tried to teach Geometry to a class in which a third of the
students don't speak English? Perhaps that's where some of your 'dumbing
down' is occurring.

I'd be equally concerned with trying to teach English to kids whose families
have been here 100 years, but who have no respect for language in general.

"Alls I want is a sandwich".
"He acrost the street at the neighbor's house".
"There is three ways to get there".
"Is our children learning?"
