Is there an establshed procedure to connect the shore tie when you
come to a strange dock? (turning off power etc)
Where is this documented?

Some dockmasters have their own procedures that they will ask you to
follow but in the absence of that, here is how I do it:

1. Ensure circuit breaker on dock is turned off, as well as the
onboard shore power switch/breaker.

2. Connect both ends of the shore power cables.

3. Turn on the dock breaker.

4. Check onboard polarity indicators if you have them.

5. Turn on the onboard shorepower switch/breaker.

6. Check voltage on both legs if applicable.
