Been all over the evening news... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/sounds/...sland2ndtv.wav Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip. That started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin' man, the skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day, for a three hour tour, a three hour tour... The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost; the Minnow would be lost. The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire, and his Wife, the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann, here on Gilligan's Isle. Ginger was hot, but Mary Ann just seemed "dooable"
BTW, the origionalversion of the song was: "a movie star, and the rest; here on gilligan's isle they added the skipper and mary ann when the show went color (I think) JimH wrote: "Ron" wrote in message ... You mean *professor* and Mary Ann.

Figuring they meant the TV history, I clicked on it and instead was invited to order a collision and damage abstract based on the HIN. :-) I can see it now, "Vessel was wrecked on a deserted island......." |

And not to pee on the guy's parade, but the only time this particular boat was ever seen on TV was in a long-distance, split second view of a boat motoring out past a breakwater in the opening credits beginning with the second season. That shot was filmed at Marina del Rey, which should surprise no one at all, and the boat was rented by the hour from its owner. Yes, it was "a" Minnow, but not *the* Minnow most people would assume when hearing the name. There were a total of four boats used in the filming of Gilligan's Island. One was not actually a boat, but just a studio prop. TV audiences must have been fairly unsophisticated 45 years ago (what could be unsophisticated about watching Gilligan's Island?), as there is only a cursory resemblance between the four boats. So the seller's claim is true, but could be misleading. This boat was never seen close up, or washed up on the beach, etc, like the others in the TV series were. No way is this boat worth $100k, IMO, split second appearance in Gilligan's Island not withstanding. http://www.gilligansisle.com/minnow.html |

The boat filmed in Hawaii was rented. Sorry. |

Coconut radios seem pretty damn sophisticated to me. Yeah, they could build a radio out of coconuts, plus all sorts of other equipment, but couldn't build a raft, or patch the boat! |

Speaking of film boats, whatever happened to the two boats used to film
Captain Ron? One is here in Kemah, but there was a sister ship used that was in CA last I heard. There used to be a web site about them, but I lost the link or it went away... anybody know if it's still out there? basskisser wrote: |
