..........amusement park in America for the 9th straight year is Cedar Point
(http://www.cedarpoint.com/ ) in Sandusky, Ohio as rated by 'Amusement
Today' (http://www.amusementtoday.com/).

Have you ever been to Cedar Point? I have, and for the past 45 years. ;-)

Connection to boating: Cedar Point has a marina and a nice transient
dockage area. Transient boaters have access to the marina pool and
restrooms/showers. There is also a special boaters entrance to the park
that allows for entrance one hour before the park opens.

When our kids were younger (pre college age) and we had the 32 or 27 footer
we would kick off our boating cruise vacation by spending the first
day/night at Kelley's Island, then 3 days at Cedar Point (transient dockage
that was then located adjacent to the Millennium Force roller coaster).
From there we would head to Leamington, Canada for some peace and quite
after hearing the park noise for 3 straight days. ;-)

Docking under the roller coaster doesn't sound like all that much fun,
at least to me.

Clank, clank, clank, clank, clank, clank, clank

pause

Steel wheels begin to roll

Whoosh picks up frequency

"Ahhhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhh! Wow! Whoopie"

Somebody pukes on your boat......

Park closes at 2 AM on weekends.....

I think I would head straight to Canada.

Not under but near. And I agree with your sentiments Chuck.

We would take the trip with our best friends who own a 26 foot Lyman. The
adults were fed up with the noise and smell after the first day and we could
not wait to head to Leamington. The noise was worse for them as they only
had a small cuddy sleeping 2.......we had an enclosed air conditioned cabin
to sleep in.

But the kids loved it and that was the important thing! The layover to
Cedar Point was for the kids and we don't regret a minute of it. ;-)

We have been to CP several times by boat. While I go for all the
roller coasters, my wife can do without. We also go there as one stop
of several on our trips to Lake Erie. I've found that the marina is
among nicest and cleanest American marina we've been to.

I remember when the "Blue Streak" was the only real coaster there.

week with 5-7 footers on the Lake as I type this.............the winds and
waves are expected to last through at least Friday

I've done that trip with winds from the NE.....it always sucks.....though
the worse time I had was when it was from the south, and was blowing up
the river on the way down.

I will keep an eye on it. If the wind is from the north, I can cut along
the Canadian shore and then, go south,
If it is more from the east, I will probably end up somewhere along the
river and make the rest of the run on Friday.
