Low Voltage Problem on 350 Mag Mercruiser

Hi all, glad I found this forum. As many of you know, "a boat nothing more
than a hole in which money is poured" Hopefully, you guys may provide
insight on my latest problem:

My 22' SeaRay Pachanga is suffering a loss in voltage. My alternator checks
out ok at 14-19 volts at 1500rpm.
I replaced one of my deep cycle batteries with a new starter type and charged
up the other deep-cycle. Cleaned & inspected all cables and wires. Replaced
the Ignition switch. Yesterday, the volt meter did show 14 volts briefly
while I was cruising. But, could not keep above 12 volts consistently. When
running low, my multimeter reading on the starter solenoid is the same as the
battery 12.43 volts. Shouldn't it be the same as what's coming out of the
alternator? Does anyone have any other suggestions of things to check?

There is a fuse between the starter and alternator.

It's common on boats for resistance to develop over time in the various
connections and terminals. These show up as lower voltage in various places
depending on the load. At one point I was only getting 8 volts at my
ignition module. A good cleaning with a wire brush helps a lot.

Test at the alternator output terminal, not the starter solenoid, when
the voltmeter reads low. Report back.

The alternator check out at over 14 volts. I also had napa double check it
for me. I replaced the battery to rule that out. As well as the ignition
switch. Voltage did jump back to normal the other day while cruising. But,
dropped below 12 on the dash later on. There must be a loose wire or short
somewhere. I placed a call to my mobile marine mechanic. Time for an
expert....
