1985 3.7 Rear Main Seal Install
 

I am rebuilding a 3.7 L , and can't remember which way the 1 piece rear
main seal is turned.

Can anyone help?

You cannot see the metal spring from the outside when it installed
correctly. That is tue for all of those kind of seals.
