Great article in the August Nor'Westing on radio procedure. I really get
tired of hearing the "Got your ears on" hails along with the "negative contact, channel clear" waste of bandwidth. Hope you are correct that boater education will improve that for the willing to learn. Regards, Dan |

Is he on a trip or did he finally just get sick of all the politics and name-calling? He bailed out the day before you got back. Said something about being sick of all the sheriffing in here. He was doing most of the "sheriffing" around here, and that after he bailed, it suddenly got worse. Didn't he say that he was going on a trip in his newly refurbished boat, and wouldn't be back for a while? Yeah but did you have to tell John. |

Do you find it a more agreeable place with the name-calling and mud slinging? I'd hope not. Have you had your mom out on the sailboat? Just before my mom died, at age 75, she moved in with me. One day she asked for a motorcycle ride, so we took off for the Snickersville Turnpike, one of my favorite short rides in the area. She was thrilled, loving every minute of it. -- John H. Her days of boating are past. Arthritis in her knees makes her unsteady so she uses a rollator (fancy walker) all the time. She does love to go for drives though and will come with us on the 18th when we head south/west (Digby & Yarmouth NS areas) to attend my youngest sister's 50th birthday get-together and pick up our new puppy. |

Thanks. I wasn't fussy about getting a dog just yet but the wife got really excited about it a few months ago. She was ready to pay for it herself when mom passed her a cheque for the entire amount. Guess all I'll have to do is walk it twice a day, feed it and cleanup after it. |
