Hitting trim cuts power to honda 135 OB-HELP!
 

I have an 05 Hurricane deckboat with an 05 Honda 135 outboard.
Periodically,not all the time while driving,idling,trailering,etc when i hit
the trim the engine will stop and all power to the boat interrupted.

I unhook the wires from the battery for 10 seconds,rehook them up,restart
the motor and take off as normal,wont happen again or all the time. To me
this signals some sort of relay or something is bad. When i unhook and
rehook the wires to the battery,i can almost hear some sort of click in the
motor like a relay turning on,etc.

Any ideas what this might be? I am 100 miles from my dealer and had the boat
delivered,i would really not like to have it shipped back to them if it's a
simple part.

Either a flaky battery or a bad battery cable connector. check if a crimp
connector on the cable is loose or corroded.

I took the battery and had it tested,it was fine. The connectors are rock
solid and clamped down with wing nuts.

Check the cable itself. The connectors will corrode inside and make bad
contact to the wire. Take a volt meter and while trying to start, check for
voltage along the path. Both with the ground probe grounded to the battery
and if that shows OK, connect the voltage probe to the battery and check
along the path to see where ground is missing.

I will check them next time i am at the boat. It happens whether i am in the
water or not,i might be working inside it,hit the down trim on the motor to
move it and the power will just be cut. It really bothers me that I cant
figure it out and I have an electrical background lol.
