A friend gave me this tip. Cut a pool noodle -

into 3" or 4" chunks, and slice a side of each chunk longitudinally to the
center. Place the lure in the center of the noodle chunk and wind the
leader around the chunk of noodle. Once the leader is wound, slip the
swivel into the center also.

Works great. No tangled leaders.

I don't store my lures that way, but it sounds good.

I make up my leaders ahead of time and I use empty line spools - they
work great. I have sets of red, yellow, green and plain stainless in
different lengths from 6" to 24" and the same with fluorocarbon.

Normally, I dry my lures and restore them after use - I don't like to
keep them on the leader.

I might try that trick though - perhaps with a little terry cloth to
dry the lures.

Thanks for the tip.

Rolled up like this, they can be stored in a large zip lock without getting
tangled.

You are welcome!

Don't the hooks get stuck in the foam?

Yes, but it hurts nothing. They can be pulled out easily. Remember, if one
of these chunks gets ruined after several uses, a whole new noodle can be
had for $2.50.

A company I used to work for sold a line of stuff for this called
"leader keepers", "tackle keepers", etc. It was just rigid polyethylene
tubing in various diameters and lengths with poly capplugs on each end.
Worked great, albeit a little expensive. I don't even know if anything
like that is on the market, but you could easily make up your own. Any
clear or semi-clear poly tubing with corks or caps in the end would
work great to store individual setups.
