Some good info - Hurricanes, etc.
BoatUS has produced a guide for preparing boats for heavy weather. Some of
you southern/coastal/Great Lakes folks may find it informative. Me...? I keep mine in a nice, cozy, expensive boatel! http://www.boatus.com/hurricanes/hurr_prep_guide.pdf -- ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** John |

We do not experience hurricanes. Although we do sometimes experience tornadoes they are instantaneous events and no amount of dock lines to secure a boat will save it if hit by a tornado. ;-) |

Ah, you caught me. For some reason I thought the Great Lakes might also
have high winds and rough water at times. For you, I'm sure, the article was a waste of time. -- ****************************************** ***** Have a Gay Day! ***** ****************************************** John |

It was an interesting read though. FYI: Rough water is avoided by most folks on the Great Lakes and they keep their boats secure at their docks. We also do not have hurricane force winds other than in tornadoes, and in those cases, the tornadoes strike often without much, if any, warning. Have a nice day John. ;-) |

I didn't know the Edmund Fitzgerald was sunk by a tornado. I guess you
really do learn something new everyday here in wrecked boats. G UD |

G UD I never said that high seas were never seen on the Great Lakes. I did say that most recreational boaters stay off the Lakes in those conditions. I believe the Edmund was sunk in a November storm. Not many recreational boaters still in the water then. Nice try though. :-) |
