i have a 1978 mercury 85 with no tilt trim. what is the best position
to lock the trim in. i have 5 different positions.

Whichever position best trims your boat on plane, as high as possible
without cavitating is best ride and efficiency, however, this may cause
problems with cavitation getting on plane.
