You said; "My kayak fits in my small sports car (pictures)"

I said; "What is that, 8 feet or so? I figured you would have one of
those tiny ww boats."

I meant that before getting the photo open I expected you would have a
tiny ww boat. I did not say that your boat was tiny. Is that so complex?

Dude, he's not the one who owes an apology, for the fact that you were
too dim to understand his perfectly reasonable comment and then flamed
him with an infantile reply.

What is that, 8 feet or so? I figured you would have one of those
tiny ww boats.

In the context of whitewater boats, 8' is very long. If you look at
the first photo it the label on the hull reads "Pursuit 10" so it's
likely 10' long. In any case, this is rec.boats.paddle, not
rec.boats.paddle.only.boats.longer.than.16feet.all owed

John, did you have any particular motivation for that last comment?

It was in response to this statement.

I figured you would have one of those tiny ww
boats.

Putting the emphasis on "you" rather than "figured" makes it sound to me
that he was disparaging novice (whose choice of handle almost invites
elitism) for his choice of kayak, and "tiny ww boats" could have been
written without the "tiny" qualifier.

If he would have written:

"I figured that it was a www boat", I wouldn't have responed. In any case,
novice seemed have read the same thing I did in the response given his
reaction.

Alas, it appears that it was basically a case of unclear phrasing rather
than an intential disparaging. I apologize to galt.

'Cause...galt didn't say anything about 8' WW boats, he was giving an
eyeball estimate of a boat in a picture.

Actually, he did. The "8 feet or so" question combined with "tiny ww
boats" implies that 8' is short in the context of ww boats.

Not in my reading of Galt's initial response, John. My paraphrase of
his remark, as I understood his meaning, is this: "wow, that thing is
at least 8' long! From your subject line, I expected to see one of
those tiny whitewater boats!"

I was as surprised as Steve and Galt when I saw how both you and
"novice" (who is clearly a novice when it comes to polite discourse)
responded.

I saw a homemade fiberglass boat the other day that came apart, into
three pieces, at the bulkheads. Each compartment was about 3 feet long
so the entire boat was 9 or 10 feet long. When assembled a set of snap
latches held it together. Apart it was carried in a sedan. I don't know
if it would fit inside a small sports car.

Who gives a rats ass. I carry both a 12' and 9.5' at the same time in
my Honda so I win!

The 240sx is a chicks car. I'm surprised you don't drive a Miata.

Dude, we are so on the same page with that. I cannot count the number
of people who couldn't understand why I refered to the Miata as "a
co-ed's car" and refused to test-drive one when I was looking for an
inexpensive roadster. (I wound up with an MR2 Spyder. Never even
looked at those "sporty compacts" like the 240SX which this weenie
thinks is a sports car).

'Course, most of the people who couldn't understand my scorn for the
Miata were women...

Honda killer? What are you, 16 years old?

Spending all your spare time trying to get some "street cred"?

Nobody cares about your a car being a "Honda Killer". I've yet to be
approached by a fast and furious punk looking to "kill" my Honda. You
watch too much TV little boy, come back to reality and realize how
insignificant you are in the grand scheme of things.

You took the time to write 50 word response so clearly you care. Me
thinks you protest too much. I have nothing but contempt for Honda
drivers.

That just sick, he probably uses a left-handed mouse on his computer
too.

He'll be getting that Miata any day now, only a matter of time.
