A gorgeous day on the bay!

Took the wife out for the first time this year, just to do a little
cruising and have a little picnic at our favorite little island just up the
west river from the Chesapeake Bay. I was a little worried that something
would go wrong, especially after seeing some of the horror stories here.

The marina was almost empty of people, and very few boats were being
launched. It turned out the Coast Guard had issued an advisory about
floating debris coming down from the Susquehanna River.

We launched anyway, the engine started right up, the blower, bilge pump,
lights, etc., all worked, so we took off.

What a beautiful day! The bay, except for lots of sailboats, was not at all
crowded, our little island had no visitors until well after we had found a
nice spot to tie up, and we saw no floating debris. Of course, it seems
that the majority of floating objects, boats and dead bodies included,
float to the eastern shore. Maybe we were just lucky.

Got back to the marina without incident and took a dip in the pool to rinse
off the salt water. A spectacular way to spend a nice day on the Chesapeake
Bay.

Great for you! I've learned there's nothing like a good day on the water.
Well, maybe 2 good days.

John,
I'm looking forward to school starting so I can take my wife for a romantic
day on the lake. Still, I'd like longer summers so I could take my kids out
for more days on the water, before they're too old and off to college and
summer internships.

You'll have to enlighten me there!

The marina is up Rockhold Creek, a very scenic little 10 minute ride from
the bay. I'll get some pics next time.

I understand. This is the first year in the last six that we didn't have
two boys from Belarus staying with us. It's kind of nice not having the
kids there for a change. But, it was also fun having the kids along.

You've never seen Jax's Speedo shots?
He used to post them in one of the other boating groups every chance he
got. It was ugly!
