When you get a pike in, or alongside the boat, it gives you this look which says "Go ahead. Make my day. Try and get the hook out." They eat baby ducks sometimes. |

I love smallmouth fishing, almost as much as spotted bass. I find that whatever lure is supposed to be all wrong for smallmouth, it's the one to use. Last fall, in the St. Lawrence, I was about to give up completely after 3 hours of trying everything in the tackle box, and getting nothing. Then, just for the hell of it, I tied on an enormous Rapala, about 8 inches long, the kind I use to troll for walleye. Got 4 bass in a row, and BIG boys, too. |
