What Happend 400 Years Ago?

What happened 400 years ago to cause the world to cool off? And, what
caused the temperature to get to the same "high" level it is today in
the preceding years? I don't remember anybody painting a picture of
their gas sucking pig of a donkey cart on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

will take the bait.

400 Years ago a colony was lost, all the people left the settlement and
traveled south. It seems the ground never thawed and crops couldn't grow.
A mini-ice age 400 years ago.
