This week I had the first eye implanted with a new lens that provides
multi-distance focusing. The second eye will be implanted in ten days.

For the first time in over 35 years I hope to be eyeglass free for most
situations. Living in Florida and fishing quite a bit sunglasses are a real
neccessity.

I would appreciate suggestions for quality sunglasses, polarized of course.

Thanks....

After trying on several different brands I bought myself a pair of Maui
Jim's earlier this year and have been quite pleased with them.

I went to Sunglass Hut to try on various makes and models and found a
specific model of Maui Jim I liked. I then went onto Ebay and purchased
those same sunglasses, brand new with warranty, at a nice discount. ;-)

Well, I guess that's where you and I differ, JimH. I don't see what you did
as being "smart". I see it as being deceitful and selfish.

But, whatever floats your boat ...

The store was empty. She was not on commission. I am not a
multi-millionaire.

I saved some bucks by being a smart shopper and no one was hurt.

Why are you trying to start a fight over this Richard? Having a bad day
perhaps?

I hope things turn around for you today so you can see the positives life

Kinda like the graph of twice the sine of theta as theta goes from zero to

I second Jim's recommendation on the Maui Jims...best sunglasses around in

I've got to go with RCE on this one. You never had any intention of
making a purchase at the store. You simply used them.

Nothing wrong with buying on line. But, using what a brick and mortar
operation provides, at a somewhat substantial cost to them, with no
intention of making a purchase, is low class. So, you found a way to
get service without paying for it.

I saved some bucks by being a smart shopper and no one was hurt.

Maybe you saved a buck, but saying no one was hurt by it is far from
the truth. The brick and mortar operation spent a few dollars to
provide you with the product to inspect in a convenient and
comfortable location. I'm not sure how you know the salesperson was
on commission or not, but certainly there are some ways the management
evaluates a store's, and a salesperson's, production.

Even if the salesperson was not on commission, no doubt they would
rather be making personal calls, or studying, or anything else, rather
than wasting time with a customer who has no intention making a
purchase. After you tried on several pairs of glasses, do you not
think the salesperson had to clean the counters, and glasses, so they
would be ready for the next customer?

Did you by chance inform the personnel at the Hut you had no intention
of making a purchase when you asked them for assistance?

I'm a commissioned salesperson, and I can tell you, I'd rather sit
with my thumb up my ass than waste my time assisting some moron who
has no intention of making a purchase, no matter how helpful I am.
OTOH, on the rare occasions an honest person informs me there is
little to no chance of making a sale on them, but they would
appreciate some advice, I usually gladly give it to them.

I buy stuff on line. Sometimes it's because it's cheaper. Mostly I
buy on line because I find it much more convenient to do it on line.
But, I will say, I never, ever, shop at a store to find what I want,
then buy it on line to save a buck. I personally think of it as a
character issue. Sure, maybe nobody will know you are using them,
but you are. If you dump your car's ash tray out on the side of the
road, but nobody sees you, you are still littering. Saving a buck
does not justify all actions.
