ALUMINUM TRAILERS IN SALTWATER???

I ahve a 16 year old, frequently used, aluminum trailer and it has been
through 4 sets of axels, but the frame is good. You can reduce the
corrosion by adding some zinc plates. You can clean the trailer up with
Aluma-Brite available at most marine stores.

Hey, all,

Does anyone know whether it's OK to use aluminum boat trailers in
sal****er? I know aluminum isn't very "noble" on the galvanic series,
and that it corrodes if submerged in sal****er for a long time without
zinc anodes, but what about with boat trailers that are "dunked" in
sal****er repeatedly?

Does the salt pit the aluminum?

Will the salt eventually "rot out" the aluminum with enough dunkings?

Are you supposed to rinse off the salt with a hose after coming home?

Thanks for any advice.
