This will be a great resource for getting out and learning the area and getting folks to go with you. Next I recomend joining the socalkayaking group on yahoo as this is kayak message board just for the the LA, Orange, and ventura counties. Next join or monitor the Cal Kayak Friends Club's activities. www.CKF.org there are many members with varing skill levels and interests. Even one that is promoting calm lake water and camping on the lake shores as adventures. This group maybe that best asset. There is a book on paddling So Cal, can't remember the name but the title is someting like adventure kayaking from Santa Barbara to Mexico. This book list trips and skill requirments in an easy to work with format. Southwind kayak Center and Aqua Adventures Kayak center have the book, I'm sure! These 2 outfitters are also great resources that you should know of to kayak in So Cal. REI can only get you so far! More info then this would be getting in to details with out knowing you and your skill & time level. Good Luck and safe paddling, |
