Cockpit Padding - Just For Water Displacement: Options?

Wave Witch. Sort of cross between a surf ski and a wave ski.

Two generously-sized foot wells and a pretty good sized seat.

I've got a block of gray high-density foam which, I guess, is the "official"
solution for padding out a cockpit. Muy expensivo.

Using the high-density stuff, I've got my contact points where I want them - all
I want to do now is displace water in the foot wells and seat.

I got a roll of that blue foam that REI sells as sleeping pads - but before I go
nuts with it, I thought I'd ask if there is something more suitable.

Softer is better. I don't want to turn the foot wells into leg breakers when I
get nailed by a wave.
