When I smelled bacon wafting from my new computer, I was thrilled --
until I realized it was the smell of my thighs igniting.

May. 15, 2006 | I have figured out why the people in those Apple
commercials are always dancing around, and it has nothing to do with
listening to cool music on their iPods. I'm pretty sure that, like me,
they've used their new MacBook Pro before reading the users guide, and are
having the normal human reaction that occurs when receiving second-degree
burns to the upper thighs.

Computer stores actually sell ventilating pads for laptops. Most are just
thick, hard plastic plates with plenty of holes.

My IBM Thinkpad gets only a little bit warm and therefore is no danger
to my bacon thighs.

I took a long look at the new Apple Intel-based computers and concluded
they were grossly overpriced, but the new portables seemed pretty slick.

I understand that aren't very fast, though.

Apple is using relatively tame Intel dual-core CPU's.

What's more is that Intel is having quite a lot of complaints about
dual core chips, a lot of apps just don't play well with them.
