Do I need to replace exhaust bellows on Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen II?

While taking my boat (1996 Sea Ray Express Cruiser 216), the marina
identified a leak in the exhaust bellows. I understand that this is
used to direct exhaust through the prop wash.

Do I have to replace it? If I don't, I think the exhaust will be
discharged into the water in front of the prop. From reading other
posts, I don't think there is a risk of getting water into the engine
or boat.

Thanks,

Cliff

correct it will just exit the exhaust into the water and not
out the prop. It will be a lot louder tho, and the exhaust
does help a little spin the prop.
