Boater Finds Human Head Off Islamorada

UPDATED: 3:18 pm EDT April 24, 2006

KEY WEST, Fla. -- Monroe County officials said a boater found a human
head in the ocean just a few miles off Islamorada.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said part of the spine was
still attached, and some teeth remained.

The head was found off of Alligator Reef, a popular snorkel and dive
spot about four miles east of Indian Key.

The head is now with the medical examiner, who will try to determine its
identity and how it got separated from the body.

Found near "Alligator Reef"?

Perhaps that's some clue.

And shame on you for suggesting it might have been found by somebody we
know.
Odds are very slim indeed. However, there are a few folks kicking
around the waterfront who would do well to make such a discovery- they
would finally have a brain (along with a few extra teeth and some
actual backbone).

Chuck, I hope you don't have some sort of nasty prejudice against bait.
