What I've noticed...

I've mostly held back from most of the "slinging" that goes on around

Gee, am I surprised?

No.

You've never been to blame for all of it.

The same few people insist on posting inflammatory OT threads, and most
of the bull crap has been confined to those threads. Contrast that to
the days of not so long ago when every boating realted thread was
disrupted by guys calling names and continuing
arguments that began in the "Liberal Faggots Are Anti-American" or
"George Bush is Dumber than A Rock" threads elsewere in the group.

If a few of the remaining folks who put their need to blow off steam
above the purpose and welfare of the NG would follow your recent
example and avoid starting threads about war, politics, gun control,
etc. the relatively small amount of "slinging" would diminish even
more. It would mean that we would lose a few individuals who *never*
post about boats and never fail to join into the political fray- but
for the purposes of this group and IMO that would be no loss.

Absolutely right on being no loss. I've put just about all of the
"hard core" types in my KF and I don't miss them in the slightest.
As long as the regulars stay above the fray, things look much
improved.
