I'm looking at Michelin Cross Terrains at $193 a foot, versus Goodyear
Wrangler SR-A's at $179. In other words, the price is close to the same.

So, how the hell does one decide, one over the other?

Thanks. The Michelins have a higher treadwear rating. Very helpful.

I put Goodyear Fortera's on my pickup. They have much better wet road
traction than the Wranglers or Michelin cross country tires, they cost
less, they have a warranty, and I do very little off-road wood bashing
anyway.

Wet road traction is my concern. I'm been in cars, mostly lighter cars,
that just won't stop on wet pavement. They are down right dangerous. I
always looked for an "A" traction rating. Now I find there is an "AA"
rating, and 75% of all tires are rated "A". Oh well, who knew?

I recently put a set of Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S on the WRX
and couldn't be happier.

I found this web site to be the perfect compliment to the safecar web
site. I found the tire I purchased to be highly rated tire, but the
Firestone was rated just as high by consumers, at almost half the price.
