My daily runner needs new shoes.

Size: 265/65/17

I'm looking at Michelin Cross Terrains at $193 a foot, versus Goodyear
Wrangler SR-A's at $179. In other words, the price is close to the same.

So, how the hell does one decide, one over the other?

What's the real make & model of the car?

Toyota 4Runner V8, auto, part-time 4WD.

I've been amazed with Nokian WR tires on my Tacoma. I got rid of the
original tires, Goodyear all-terrain somethings, because they were atrocious
in snow, and on slippery ramps. The Nokians solved all those problems. Nice
strong sidewalls, too. They don't begin to lose their balls on sharp curves
at interesting speeds.

Unfortunately, there is not a wide variety of tire availability in the
size I need...I found Bridgestones, BFGs, Dunlops, Goodyear, and
Michelins. My local tire guy just called with a good price on the
Michelins, so I ordered a set. They seem to have the highest tread rating.

I tend not to drive at "interesting speeds" in my SUV.

I just purchased some Bridgestones for my SUV, they were rated A A 600.
It was interesting to note that with both Bridgestones and Michelin's
you had to accept a drop in "Temp" rating from A to B to get the 700
wear rating. The temp rating can be a factor if you have a tire that is
slightly under inflated.

I have always heard excellent reports on Michelin's and am glad to see
the Bridgestones had a superb rating.

Wonder if the 'new' RAV4 c/w V6 engine will cut into Highlander sales?
I heard the Rav4s new length is only 3 inches shorter than the Highander
and it's 6 cylinder is more powerful.

Both are top-drawer vehicles. I bought a 4Runner because it is built on a
traditional truck frame, and therefore is more rigid than a vehicle with
monocoupe construction. The Highlander is very appealing, though.

I actually have the 4runner also, 2003, V8, just put a lift on it:

I love it! Very solid.. Check out the new BFGs on it as well... 265/70/17

WHOO HOO!!

Trust me... that little SUV is going to be even more popular in the
future than it is now.
I'm waiting for Consumer Reports to do a review on the 2006 RAV4 V6 just
to see if it dislodges the Subaru Forrester from the #1 spot it's
enjoyed the last 3 years or so. (small car based SUVs)
