BC Ferry sinks up near Prince Rupert

Nobody has mentioned the sinking of the Queen of the North. She struck
a rock early Wednesday morning and went down in about an hour. They
believe that everybody was
accounted for, but there is still some question about one couple. (Some
people say they saw the couple come ashore and then personally arrange
transportation to another location, but the CANGOV hadn't confirmed
that story as of late last night).

The ship was built in 1969, and had been operated in this general
region for the last 37 years.

Guess it goes to show that no matter how familiar you think you are
with an area or how big a boat you have, you can't let down your guard
for a moment underway or the sea just might snatch you to the bottom.

Little mention of it in the news, don't know why. I guess they are getting
tired of reporting these things. The backlash must be something out of
this world with people racing after what they think is big money. I could
be abusive to the media. They did say that the BC Ferries was trying to put
the coastal route out to tender and that someone from one of the
interested parties was on board at the time. Maybe it was part of the
takeover bid!:-) That route has been getting almost no recognition for
decades. It must have gone for rockbottom prices. Glad it is over, they
almost had me on that trip!
