Now that the US dollar is on its butt I'm not sure if the exchange rate
continues to allow New Zealand to build pretty cheaply- but this has
been true in the past and they have a long tradition of building
multi-hulls.

Back in early 2001, the US dollar was worth $1.65 Canadian dollars.

For reasons that we will avoid discussing (to keep the NG from becoming
political), the dollar has become steadily weaker. Today it's within
15-cents of being on par with the Canadian dollar. Any currency
exchange chart will confirm that for you.

I know one very lnowledgable person who had one built in South Africa
last year and then sailed it back to Connecticut.
