paddling in Colorado

My husband and I (he an experienced paddler and me, so far a non-paddler)
have recently moved to Colorado (Boulder) and would like to do some easy
lake paddling. Does anyone have any suggestions for lakes to paddle?

Thanks

R & K

Gross Reservoir is probably the best paddling just outside of Boulder.
Scenic lake, no powerboats, clean water.

Lonetree and Union have trolling speeds only. Carter Lake isn't bad,
but gets the powerboat traffic.

I have some trip reports at http://www.canoecolorado.com/trips for a
few local lakes and easy rivers. I'm trying to add more to the page,
but haven't had time.

The Rocky Mountain Canoe Club at http://www.rockymountaincanoeclub.org
is a good group and allows both canoes and kayaks. Dues are only $20
per year

A warm welcome to Colorado!

The Rocky Mountain Sea Kayaking Club is a good source for info.
On their main web page, www.rmskc.org, they have a link to places to
paddle.

They also have a forum to post questions:

Enjoy!

Mickie, as in Mickie Matula? :-)

Are you back in the boat again or just helping others along while
looking on from shore?

Hi there Wilko,

"Yes! It is she. I am being helpful - I hope!

I got out about a half dozen times last season, easy class 2 and 3. I
probably would've gone more if I could've. The feeling was
different though - not like the "old days." So many fond,
delightful, and heart-warming memories of those "old days!" And in
what other sport can I claim the honor of being able to tackle to the
ground a guy 2 feet taller and 2.something times my weight!? Sure wish
you captured that one on film Wilko!

I will always love water! :-) But I anticipate I will find myself doing
more sea and flat paddling... but maybe with an annual whitewater trip
here and there to join "old" paddling buddies...who never will grow
old :-)

Glad to see you're still enjoying whitewater !

Enjoy!
Mickie "not the mouse" (nor a he) :-)
