![]() "Bert Robbins" wrote in message ... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060302/...districting_12 I got a particular kick out of Justice Kennedy's concern about the convoluted districts. "....Kennedy said the result was an odd-looking map that mixed voters of very different backgrounds..." If that is of serious concern to Justice Kennedy, he ought to take a moment to look at the Massachusetts district map, which is the result of fifty years or more of unabated, unrestricted jockeying on the part of the overwhelmingly Democrat state legislature, the sole aim of which has been to solidify the nest of those in power and to throw those who don't play ball off the boat [nautical connection]. The districts are all gerrymandered to death, but pay special attention to the smooth, cohesive boundary and shape of the Mass 4th District, seat of the Hon. Barney Frank. http://www.sec.state.ma.us/cis/cispdf/ma_uscongress.pdf |

Everything is Gerrymandering. |

Everything is Gerrymandering. Re-districting is one of the political spoils. Whichever party holds a majority in the respective legislature is in the drivers seat every ten years. This just proves that getting out and voting is very important. Also, the legislature has the constitutional requirement to redraw the districts and the judiciary should keep its nose out. If the people don't like the new districts then they have a course to remedy the problem. |
