yamaha motor locked up?

I'm the poor slob who had problems with boat after getting it from
shop 2 weeks ago. Took boat back..had oil injection disabled, brought
it home today. 84 Yamaha 115 hp outboard

I started it up in the driveway to test it with muffs on. boat started
fine. I engaged the free idle lever to test it because that was one
of the things that it was in the shop for. It seemed to work. I
barely revved the engine, probably never exceeded 2000 rpm. Motor
seemed to be running fine, as I was closing the free idle lever it
sounded sort of like it was going into gear and the motor stalled.
Motor was idling for less than 5 minutes total.

Tried to start the motor back and just got a loud click from the
starter. I did have problems with the starter a few weeks ago with
the clutch not pushing the gear up onto the flywheel. Now the gear is
meshed with the flywheel but is not turning it at all. Battery is
charged, connections at terminal seem okay.

I shifted the motor into gear and tried to turn the propeller by hand.
Not sure if I should be able to or not, but I was not able to turn it.

Boat is going back tomorrow...for the 4th freaking time. I'm scared
my powerhead is seized. Am wondering now if the service tech added
oil to my gas and ran it through before disabling the oil injection.
Tech said he added enough oil to err on the side of caution based on
what was estimated in the tank. While the engine was running in the
driveway, it was emitting lots of smoke with that lovely 2 stroke
smell.

If I was just having starter troubles, I don't see why the motor would
have just quit like it did. If the starter goes bad, does it put a
load on the engine to the point where it will stall if it's idling?

Take the cover off, take the spark plugs out, put a wrench on the
flywheel nut and see how it turns.

Have been having trouble with the control unit and the gauge. I got
to the point that I was tired of worrying about whether or not it was
going to work.

Just got the word from the shop that the motor is seized. I am
disheartened to the point that I may give up on boating all together.
I've had this boat since the first week of December, been in the water
twice and has been to the shop 4 times and now find out this. Very
frustrating.

I have a receipt from the guy that I bought the boat from that shows a
complete rebuild of the power head last summer. Receipt shows a 1 yr
warranty on parts contingent upon a working oil injection system.
Funny that it seized after running for 2 minutes after having it
disconnected.

Yes it had oil in the gas. I talked to the tech no make sure he mixed
the oil in the tank and ran it through the system before disabling.
He said he did....of course, what else would he say.

Del,
I will give 1000 to 1 odds that the gas now has oil in it. ; )
