Need a new boat name?

Looking for feedback on the new random boat name generator on
firstboat.com.

Just increased the possible number of randomly generated boat names to
over 34,000. Let me know if you go through all possibilities and think
of any obvious names I missed:

http://www.firstboat.com/boat_names.html

I know sometimes a name comes up that doesn't make sense from time to
time, such as "Fun Fun", but the next result might be "For Sail" or
"Outta Debt" or something more applicable.

Also, Please send pictures of your boatnames, and the stories behind
them, to the email address on the page.

Disregard the ads on the page if you want - I'm seriously in this group
looking for feedback.

Thanks

Need a new boat name?

Gene,
Thanks for the feedback. While it admittedly provides some "junk", I'm
often surprised to see some of the good names that come up when I'm
clicking on the page, even though I hand picked the two lists that it
draws from.
For example, I just clicked a few times and came up with:

Reel Mystery,
In Sails,
Sea Gals

These names might spark somebody's imagination while having trouble
coming up with a boat name on their own, but I, too, would like to see
less junky results like "Tuna Barnacle".

Thanks again for the feedback.

good one, Dan. I actually considered adding "BrokeBack" to the list for
the first word selection, but thought some of the outcomes might be
offensive to some.

You can never please everyone. I would do it. Most people have a sense of
humor, the ones that don't - well you just dont need to deal with them.

"BrokeBack Sailor"

There's nobody here but men, men, men, men ...
I think that's from a monty python tune (I'm certain it's something that was
played on the Dr. Demento Show).

Not from Python. Oddly enough from a 1977 Martin Mull album, "I'm Everyone
I Ever Loved". Most People don't know it, but Martin has a considerable
musical talent, and is a very accomplished painter as well. Mull's albums
mix music and comedy in a style that is all his own. The music is all
original. The 1978 album "Sex and Violins" is a beautifully composed and
fully orchestrated album of catchy songs with bizarre lyrics. Any of his
recorded material is worth a listen if you like to hear music mixed with
bone-dry comedy. Good stuff.

I'll check it out. I just tried Napster, but they don't have sex and
violins. Now for ITunes.

I'm definitely trying to make money from the site (boat vinyl
lettering, google ads, etc.) by luring (pun unrealized until typed)
people with the free boat name machine.
But not in this forum - I am honestly looking for feedback from boat
owners, and not trying to spam a user-group.
Thanks

This is pretty obscure stuff, and nearly 30 years old. I would imagine
it will be difficult to find, but worth the pursuit.

"Brokeback" has been added to the "1st word" list of potential boat
names. Give it a try now... let me know of any other suggestions.

Thanks everyone!

You're right - I just looked at the possibilities based on what might
appear as the 2nd word, and it is promising. Some of the more
interesting results would be:
Brokeback Harbor
Brokeback Buoys
BrokebackFanta-Sea

ha! good ones!

Generally, a boat name is clever, catchy, and/or *means* something.

Tuna Barnacle and Parrothead Mermaid just don't happen for me.......

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Sounds like Mr. & Mrs. Krause to me.

Only a low life scum with low self esteem would speak negatively about
someone's wife, when said scum doesn't know the person or his wife.
Good job. Are you trying to take the newsgroup back to where it was a
couple of months ago?

Can't let the thread end with that murky comment. Just added another
1,000 possible boat names. Takes about 5 clicks to get a name that
makes sense, about 20 to find one that's perfiect for you personally.
Care to test my theory? let me know how many times you have to click
"see another" before you come up with a great boat name:

I was thinking about something like "Winsome Gal" but that might be
offensive. Try the first word with combinations. You might come up with
something, you might get arrested too!!! :-)

Ask Daryl Hannah if being compared to a mermaid is "speaking negatively".

You just want to be an asshole. Mission accomplished.

What to HELL does playing a fictional character in a movie have to do
with negatively dragging someone's wife into a conversation? Only an
asshole would do such, and it wasn't ME......

How can that get someone in trouble? I don't get it. Seems like a nice
word-play for sailboat-owners, ie "Wind-some", no?

Those are good ones!
I just went to the site http://www.firstboat.com/boat_names.html, and
within 3 clicks found the perfect name for me, as I made the money to
buy my boat on ebay:
Aye Bid

I'm glad that worked for ya; other good ones with "AYE" that come up
sometimes are Irish Ayes, Aye Candy, and Blue Ayes, and my optomitrist
friend's actual boat name, "Aye Dock", which if you think about it has
at least 3 different meanings...

I thought so too at first! Crashcourse on women?....... You win some, you
loose some! Women don't like to loose. She might ask if anyone was at
home, she might not even talk to you!!! A shure bet is more my style.
Its in the dictionary anyway.
