OK, everyone's heard of the Bisbee Black and Blue,
http://www.bisbees.com/, where prizes of over a million bucks are routinely offered to West Coast fisherman for landing thousand pounders. It's time for East Coasters to stand up for their dignity and show the world that their sportsmen are just as proficient at landing the big ones. I'd suggest the East Coast host an annual fishing tournament of their own. They could call it the Carpetbagger's C & G, reflecting the nature of true easterners, and award their own better sportsmen over a million bucks for landing those mammoth grunts 'n croakers the East Coast is known for. Just an idea... -- Skipper |

This thread will do nothing but start another Skipper you are an idiot replys. What is the deal with your infatuation with westerners vs easterners? There are many westerners in the NG who actually live on the west coast who participate in boating threads, but you are the only person who enjoys boating on the west coast who views those who boat on the east coast as someone to belittle. If we are to have a viable boating NG, we need to encourage new readers to rec.boats. Flames wars are almost non existent, trolls have been reduced considerable, and the OT posts are normally non inflammatory. Yet you who professed to want to turn the NG around, seem to be the one who is interested in trolling for a flame war, with some silly east coast-west coast troll. I was hoping you would be interested in discussing real boating topics, not some fabricated superiority between the Pacific and the Atlantic, but it appears I was wrong. -- Reggie ************************************************** ************* That's my story and I am sticking to it. ************************************************** ************* |

Only $1 million? The White Marlin Open out of Ocean City, Maryland pays out nearly $2.5 million per year...and currently holds the world record payout for catching a single fish of $1,638,915. |

Only $1 million? The White Marlin Open out of Ocean City, Maryland pays out nearly $2.5 million per year... Hate to tell you, but marlin in the Atlantic are basically kaput. Check out the phacts: http://www.bigmarinefish.com/marlin.html No, East Coast fishing tournaments with any kind of future must be restricted to the local species; croakers 'n grunts. You'd have a lot of locals going for that million dollar payoff for a grunt. And let's face it, the idea of the tournament would be to promote fishing. What kind of reaction would you get when the winning East Coast marlin weighed in at 20 pounds. The reality is, it's croakers 'n grunts for East Coasters. -- Skipper |
