Default Open water rowing

Can anyone recommend a boat kit that would roughly be the equivalent of
the Alden Appledore 16? I would like to maintain the option of
one/two-person sliding-seat rowing and sailing in open-water
conditions.

I have some boat-building/sailing/rowing experience and need a good
project for 2006 (and need to save a little money).

Would any of the Chesapeake Light Craft fit this description?
Specifically, the Annapolis Wherry or the Chester Yawl.

Alternatively, I would be in the market for a used Appledore if one is
available.

Thanks

Tom

Tom, maybe they can help you out at rec.sport.rowing
(instead of this newsgroup, rec.boats.paddle)?

I doubt that many kayakers and canoeists know as much about open water
rowing as people on the rowing newsgroup do.
