there have been some interesting scifi stories that involve different
marriage parings like triads, quads - in different combinations - even
groupings - i suppose at some point it was enivitable that something
like this would appear somewhere.

Menstrual synchrony is an interesting and little studied phenomenon.
There is some speculation that a man's presence is the cause of it. I
don't know if that's true, but it's a good enough reason for me to stay
out of that house.
