Default Boat deductions

The funny thing is.........just last week he was singing my praises. Since
I repeatedly proved him wrong time and time again in the thread about boat
and engine/outdrive weights and construction he is back to listing me as a
bad guy.

I find that fact alone to be hysterical.

and it looks like all of us need to be very careful not to bite at bait,
even when it looks so tasty. Some people have been trying to destroy
rec.boats for so many years, that they are pros at turning any thread into
a flamefest.

If I screw up and take the bait, remind me.

Harry,
When did Chuck Gould and all the other old timers become JimH's
facilitators?

The NG is better off without the mindless name calling.

It's hard to qualify for a deduction when YOU PAY NO INCOME TAXES IN
THE FIRST PLACE. The bottom FIFTY PERCENT of taxpayers pays ONLY FIVE
PERCENT of income taxes.

Your "facts" are wrong. But, of course, demonstrating that would be
making a political statement, and such thinking is verboten in this
mindless morass of born-again, part-time, goody two shoes. Just ask the
Rev. Jim or his facilitators.

JimH,
That is the new bait he is using. We all need to just ignore it and get
back on track. We as a group have fallen off of the wagon.

Probably true for conventional wood beam construction. I've seen some
interesting steel beam and skin construction recently that looks half
way affordable however. I was in one last week that was serving as a
wind surfer/kayak store (on topic), about 3,000 sq ft with 20+
ceilings. The owner said it came in at about $50/sq ft including the
slab and site prep.

Ahh, yes, but the steel buildings I have seen are butt ugly.

Check these guys out. I've been involved in one of their custom jobs and
was very impressed.

Uh huh. And this all happens by itself? The gov't has nothing to do with
business, trade, laws, etc etc?

The social/economic/legal system that we operate under is what makes it
possible for the rich to buy these things. They don't "just happen."
Without gov't that system would not function. Is the light beginning to
dawn Fred?

DSK

Hey Fred, if the light ever dawns, pass it over to me so I can understand
this line of reasoning as well. By our social standards, I've been poor and
I've been rich. I didn't make the transition by relying on or taking
advantage of some government program, investment scheme or tax shelters. I
am too stupid for that. I also was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth
and I certainly didn't attend any Ivy League schools. I just worked my ass
off.

Wow! The 'Less Bold' building here

would be a welcome addition on any farm, I'd think!

Face facts NOBBY, the rich live better than the poor. They get a better
deal pretty much all the way around. So why should they not pay more for
the system that gives them such a good ride?

DSK

That last sentence is the logical fallacy of your argument. I am sure this
will get your goat, and I mean in only in fun to make a point, but remember
Ronnie Wrinkles and his
"I paid for this microphone" retort?

Made a lot of sense to a lot of people.

Think that over again, Fred. Why are rich people rich? Because they do it
all themselves?

I'll help... make a list of what rich people do. Then make a list of all
the jobs that go into maintaining a luxury estate home & golf course &
yacht. Get back to me with all the items in common on both lists, OK?

DSK

I think I am going to throw up.

Over the lee rail, please.

Now, when you went from poor to rich. please tell me (and
any other interested parties still following this thread,
which seems to be a greater number than I would have
believed) how you did so in the complete & total absense of
any banks, schools, roads, legal system, monetary system,
etc etc.

If you claim that rich people do it all themselves, and
therefor deserve everything, this should be a clear & easy
thing thing to explain.

Please ask Fred to pass me the light. I just don't get it. Well, I do
understand your point of view, but have a hard time believing it has
anything to do with the real world.

For example, I was fortunate enough to somewhat achieve my goals in *spite*
of banks, schools, lawyers and all the federal, state and local ordnance
obstacles thrown in a small business's path over the years. Believe me,
they don't make it easy for anyone.

Oh, yes, I'll admit I used roads and wrote and received checks to my
advantage. :-)
